Below are some of the universal requirements and terms that are in place to ensure that every project I take on not only meets expectations but that the process is clear and enjoyable as well.

Color Options

For most processes, it is best to pick Pantone Uncoated colors. I can also mix ink "by eye" to any digital or physical color sample. Specialty inks, like metallic or fluorescent colors, are typically available for a small additional fee. Risography is limited to the selection of drums currently available at the print studio.

Pick-Up & Delivery

I do not have regular business hours, so all pick-up and deliveries will need to be scheduled in advance from my the print studio (West Town) or my home (West Humboldt Park). When possible, I will offer drop off services.

Basic Terms

  • Payment can be through cash, check, Zelle, or credit card submitted through an online invoice.

  • Estimates are valid for 30 days.

  • Complimentary proofs are not available. A printed proof may be requested for a fee.

  • A deposit (typically $250) must be paid in order for supplies to be ordered and the project to begin.

  • Clients will then typically receive a single invoice for the full project minus the deposit.

  • Projects based on time and materials will be billed every other week for the two weeks prior.

  • The project will not be handed off until all invoices are paid in full.

  • All digital files must be approved. Files may be rejected because they do not meet objective technical requirements (like minimum DPI), or because of other printability issues like excessive ink coverage or blurriness.

  • All projects are the sole intellectual property of the client. However, the project may be photographed during and after production. These photos may be use to promote my printing services, in which case I will clearly attribute the project to the client at all times.

  • I will produce and retain one signed Printer's Proof from each project.

  • All efforts will be made to meet all deadlines. However, I am not liable for any setbacks due to reasons beyond control such as natural catastrophes and pandemics (including Covid-19).

A complete agreement will sent along with all quotes, and must be signed before a project begins.

Risography Book Printing Projects

Options for risography book printing have been standardized in order to 1) simplify the process and 2) keep costs down. Clients can choose between two main options:

Basic:
  • Printed on 20# Bond paper (standard copy paper)

  • Does not include edge trimming

  • Does not allow for bleeds

  • Only available in half letter or letter sized publications

Professional:
  • Printed on a 70# Text paper

  • Includes full edge trimming

  • Allows for some bleeds

  • Can be trimmed to custom dimensions

Both options are available in any increment of 25, and include:

  • Options between 8 and 48 pages

  • Single-color printing

  • Self Cover (cover paper is the same is inside pages)

  • Machine paper folding

  • Staple binding

Either option may be customized with:

  • Custom paper (cover, inside, or both)

  • Secondary spot colors

  • Binding upgrade to perfect binding (thermal) or hand stitching

When you request a quote, you will receive a detailed outline of the process, file requirements, and current available ink colors. Based on the complexity of the project, I may ask to schedule a short consultation and/or preview files.
